Summit Your Heroic Quest: Don't Be a Hero in the Beginning

You just watched a brilliant video on Youtube.

Or heard a podcast with a Billionaire.

Or attended a seminar/workshop/event.

And now, YOU'RE ALL FIRED UP.

Or maybe you had a message from GOD/The Universe/The Source about what you’re here to do with your business and your life.

Or, maybe you've been reading my daily posts and have decided to embark on what you hope will be an epically great year—installing new habits and deleting the bad ones

Brilliant.

Cue your walk-in music.

Let’s do this!!

BUT…

I want to make sure that you DON'T don’t tip toe out the back door X days later when things start getting a little tough and the whole process isn’t quite as fun as it was on Day 1.

If that's normally you.

Guess what?

The whole phenomenon of starting out with a jumbo-ton of enthusiasm and then giving up is such a common part of humanity that thousands of years go, they actually came up with a WORD for it in Sanskrit.

Arambhashura.

It translates as : To be a hero in the beginning.

Can you believe that?

The ancient Indians actually had a word for that thing we’ve all done way more times than we’d like to admit.

This is why I tell my clients not to be heroes in the BEGINNING.

Rather we need to be HEROIC during those rough spots where we don’t feel like doing what we said we’d do.

Summon up your Heroic courage and like the NIKE slogan says JUST DO IT.

If you are going to be a HERO,

Commit to being a HERO. All the way to the summit!

Even the ancient Romans (Plato, Aristotle, Seneca) had a word for this as well.

They told us we don’t want to be heroes just in the beginning or only half way up the rugged mountain of our heroic quest.

When we allow ourselves to get stuck in the middle (medius) of a rugged mountain (ocris)?

That’s MEDIOCRITY

The key to summiting?

Diligent, patient, persistent excellence.

So let me ask you this:

Whats the ONE THING that needs to be done TODAY to help you summit?

Then JUST GO DO IT.
